SPEEDY SOLUTIONS FOR THE BUSY FREELANCE

Being a freelance journalist has some terrific advantages, but it also has some drawbacks.  Publications and publishers are increasingly expecting the freelance writer to be a “one-stop shop” who will not only provide good copy but also good-quality accompanying illustrations. The truth is that digital technology allows anyone, with a little care and concentration, to take a photograph that will be of publishable quality. The problems often arise when the picture has to be edited to suit the in-house specs of the publication you’re writing for. Unless you’re familiar with picture editing software, you may not be able to make the necessary adjustments.

And what if the picture isn’t up to muster at all? Can a poor-quality picture be rescued and turned into one of publishable quality?
