Darren W. Ritson is a Civil Servant who lives on North Tyneside with
his long-term partner Jayne and their daughter Abbey. He has had an
interest in the paranormal for most of his life due to some strange
experiences he had as a child.
Darren founded the North East Ghost Research Team in May 2003.
The team is non-profit making and dedicated to finding out the truth
about ghosts and hauntings.
The team currently consists of seven members and its goal is simple;
to collect data and signed witness testimonies and to piece together the
pieces of this elusive paranormal jig-saw puzzle.
They try to take a scientific, objective and professional approach to
each investigation they undertake. Although they believe in ghosts,
each case is initially looked at from a sceptical point of view.
Evidence collated is looked at objectively, and a process of elimination
is carried out before full findings are produced in an investigation
report. Any good evidence is usually sent for further analysis.
Darren has built up a vast library of books, magazines and other
literature on the paranormal. These include the works of Guy Lyon
Playfair, the late Harry Price(1881 - 1948) and Peter Underwood,
FRSA, of which these three prolific ghost hunters are his main
influences.
Darren is immensely proud of the team he runs and the work they
have carried out. They will continue to investigate, write and interview
witnesses in their endless search for the truth.
Much of the work the team carries out is featured in local newspapers,
and the press is always interested in what they are up to and where they
are going next.. They are fast becoming a well-known and respected
research team in the north east of England, and Darren is a member
of the Society for Psychical Research.
Darren contributed to a number of magazines and journals, including
VISION and PARANORMAL. His two book, GHOST HUNTER and
IN SEARCH OF GHOSTS are currently on sale in bookstores.
