The first in a new series of
cryptozoological books, each one
covering a specific region of the
British Isles, has been
penned by Mike Hallowell.

The project - the most ambitious
ever launched within the field
of cryptozoology - is the brainchild
of the Centre for Fortean Zoology
(CFZ) based in Devon.

A team of experts on unclassified
fauna has been assembled to compile
the series, and the first volume,
compiled by Mike, has just been
released.

Mystery Animals of the British Isles -
Northumberland & Tyneside, contains
a fascinating collection of tales about
strange creatures that are alleged to
have been encountered throughout
the region over the centuries,
including  The Beast of Bolam Lake,
The Monster Rabbit of Felton and
The Giant Lobster of Trow Rocks.

Both informative and humorous, the
book is the first volume in modern
times to look exclusively at the
cryptozoological enigmas of the region.
